Some warm words from our clients

The Scottish Court Service were keen to develop a situational judgement test that challenged common candidate misconceptions by clarifying at the start of the application process the typical types of situations individuals may face if working for us. Our recruitment is fully delegated to operational managers so we also needed a robust, fair and simple solution to help our managers select the best people from an ever increasing number of candidates.

Criterion undertook robust job analysis and really got to grips with understanding the complexities of our organisation and the requirements to perform well in our jobs. We have courts throughout Scotland and the Criterion team made sure they met with key staff members at a number of our locations across the country to ensure they captured any variances due to locality and size of court. The resulting analysis, reports and subsequent tests which were produced to the highest standard and were tailored specifically to our organisation. Nothing has ever been a problem for the team and they have always gone the extra mile to meet our demands. I would recommend them in a heartbeat!

Craig Hennessey, Recruitment Manager, Scottish Court Service

“As the newest member of the Executive, it has been very helpful to have facilitated time which brought all of the voices into the room. The practical tips for ways of working more efficiently as a team have provided us with a tool box, which we will and must use to help us take the organisational aims forward.”

Rhiannon Beaumont Wood, Director of Nursing,  Public Health Wales

“At Wetherspoon we deal with anything up to half a million applications from candidates each year. We needed a robust solution that would really help us select the best candidates to work in our busy pubs…that’s where Criterion Partnership came in. Through extensive research – meeting and observing our staff in their roles, Criterion Partnership designed and implemented a suite of online tests, tailored specifically for us.

Not only have they transformed our recruitment process and allowed us to improve the quality of hire, but they are truly fantastic to work with, helpful…friendly…flexible, the list goes on!’’

Laura Purvis, Recruitment Manager, Wetherspoon

“Having worked with Criterion for a number of years, we felt that they really understood our business and our culture. They had shown that they could produce flexible and adaptable solutions, which was ideal for our purpose.”

Claire Fuller , Resourcing Manager – Retail & Distribution, ASDA

“Over the past 16 years, Criterion Partnership have been responsible for some of the most ground-breaking advances in the area of occupational psychology. Their psychometric solutions are pioneering in their flexibility and provide me with the assessment technologies I need”.

Helen Gillivan, Learning Disability & Mental Health Executive Support Manager – Families and Social Care Directorate, Kent County Council

Criterion developed a portfolio of materials for our assessment centres that were designed for a number of different staff group. We informed them of the skills and competencies we needed to assess and they developed quality materials to meet each of our required needs. They developed a very clear process to work with at the assessment centres, compared to other processes we have worked with in the past. They provided excellent training so we could also have internal assessors to support the process. The assessment centres were run professionally and candidates were impressed with the quality of day and felt that is was a valuable experience. The team were supportive throughout the whole process and nothing was too much trouble. We were very pleased with the services we received from Criterion and would defiantly use them in any future assessment centres”.

Barbara Busby CPsychol – Ministry of Defence (MoD)

“With 2000 applications to ‘hand-screen’ we were faced with a real resource problem. Criterion not only came up with a great solution, their in-depth knowledge of retail meant that the information gathering process was thorough, and the scenarios created were varied, accurate and appropriately challenging. In addition to this, we initially set very tight time-scales for the project – Criterion met our deadlines every step of the way.”

Rachel Rotherham, Graduate Programme Manager, The Co-operative Group

“The synergy generated from working with Criterion Partnership helped ensure the success of the communications campaign and engage our teams so that the rebrand programme proved to be not only as successful as was predicted but exceeded expectations. The insights and interventions provided by Criterion Partnership helped us achieve remarkable results and I would happily recommend them highly to other organisations”.

Glen Savage, Internal Communications Manager, Boots UK

“With Criterion’s help we have successfully rolled out a well being programme that has not only reduced our levels of stress related sickness absence but is also helping to improve the daily working lives of our staff. There was an unprecedented positive reaction to the bespoke workshops and other supporting material due to the innovative and engaging approach taken by Criterion, which took full account of our organisational culture and operational needs – I look forward to working with them again”.

Richard Crump, HR Operations Manager, Highways Agency

“Working with Criterion was an obvious choice for us for several reasons, we were working to tight time scales and needed to create new materials without the bureaucracy typically associated when working with external consultancies. They listened to our needs and were flexible enough to adapt materials as well as create new ones on our behalf. The consultant assigned to us was a pleasure to do business with and they seamlessly integrated into the project, connecting quickly with senior internal stakeholders to turn the work around. Based on my experience, if you want flexibility and speed, combined with a really pragmatic business focused approach, I would not hesitate to recommend Criterion.”

Dave Szabo, Regional Resourcing & Development Talent Manager, Lubrizol

“I found the time that I spent with Richard [Hunter, Criterion Director] hugely beneficial from both a personal and a team viewpoint. Richard has a great ability to read situations on an individual and group level that allows situations to develop to a near critical point, step in, facilitate feedback and then refocus. Without this ability I am not sure we would have made such progress and achieved such successful outcomes. Thank you!”

Ian McGroarty, Director, Business Dev & Project Management, Custom Pharmaceuticals

“When it comes to designing and delivering conferences, Criterion Partnership have great organisational skills and attention to detail. They know how to reach out to the audience and stir up their motivations – they’ve helped us to deliver messages in ways that are compelling and memorable.”

This is now the central plank in our proposition and means we can inspire pharmacists to pursue new goals and achieve better results than ever before.”

Rachel Marchant, Pharmacist Consultant, Alphega Pharmacy UK

“Although our relationship with Criterion Partnership is still in its infancy, we have quickly introduced a number of new tools into our recruitment and selection processes to help us make more confident and, hopefully, reliable appointments. The flexibility provided by COAST in allowing us to build our own ‘tailor made’ personality questionnaires has maximised the effectiveness of our interview process and is something we will certainly be looking to develop further in the future”.

Simon Simkin, Senior HR Development Advisor, Europcar

“Criterion’s commitment to providing high quality, user-friendly products and services certainly extends to their online range. I have been very happy with the quality of reports, the overall user experience and with the responsiveness and quality of customer service that I have received over the years”.

Dr Paul Brewerton, Managing Director Blue Edge

“Criterion Partnership has been both helpful and reliable. For the past twelve months, we have been rolling out ongoing online assessments to a large government department, using Trinity Beta and Trinity Executive. There has never been a hitch with the technology and access to the downloadable reports has been so easy.

As a consequence, our client has been pleased with the quality of service to them, buying increasingly more as we expand the campaign. In addition, Criterion has been scrupulously ethical in their dealings, enhancing the customer-supplier relationship through their honest approach to doing business.”

Paul Phillips, C.Psychol.,Senior Consultant Psychologist, CAPITA

“I think we will…be putting a lot more candidates through the CATO system in the coming weeks, the tests have been a big help and are very easy to use and manage our campaigns through.”

Phil Nicholson, Commercial Consultant, CAPITA

“The Psychologists at Criterion Partnership have understood our business more deeply than any of our other providers. The learning and development solutions they’ve created are uniquely tailored to our requirements, meaning they have real credibility with our people. The response has been exceptional and our successes in the UK will be rolled out across Europe.”

Sue Moore, General Manager, Alphega Pharmacy UK, Alliance Boots

“Richard Hunter has supported me as an Executive Coach between September and December 2015.
We first met to agree the areas of work and to agree whether we wanted to work with each other. We then met for two hours on each of six further occasions. In each case, Richard visited me in Cardiff.

I sought Richard’s support with:

• An understanding of what I am good and not so good at; and
• Future career direction and development

Richard’s support in both areas has proved very valuable. He has excellent listening skills and has offered perceptive, informed and trusted advice.

He planned our sessions carefully but was flexible to the way the conversation flowed.

He also provided practical advice during the application process which led to me being offered a new job with the ONS.
Richard has helped me look forward with greater optimism and to restore some of my confidence.”

Chris Lines, Director of Communications, Public Health Wales
